Julius Caesar Summary Essays - Cultural Depictions Of Julius Caesar
Julius Caesar Summary Act I, Scene i Summary Two patricians Flavius and Marcullus enter. They are confused by the fact that the plebeians are not in their work clothes, and begin to ask some plebeians what their jobs are. A carpenter admits he is a carpenter. Next Marcullus asks a cobbler what his job is, and the cobbler answers in a series of puns ("souls" / "soles"), ("withal" / "with awl"). The cobbler explains that everyone is taking the day off to celebrate Caesar's victory over Pompey. Marcullus, in high rhetoric, insults the plebeians for being fickle, since they very recently all liked Pompey. He tells them all to go back home and feel very sorry for dishonoring Pompey's memory. The plebeians leave. Flavius suggests that the two of them take down all of the pro-Caesar decorations. Marcullus is worried about getting into trouble since it is the feast of Luprecal after all. Flavius insists, and recommends they that drive all of the plebeians out of the streets. Finally he comments that they must do something to humble Caesar or else he would put himself so far above other men as to make them all slaves. Act I, Scene ii Summary Caesar and his party enter. Caesar asks that his wife Calpurnia stand in Antony's way and that Antony touch her while he is running the race. Both agree. A soothsayer warns Caesar of the ides of March. At first Caesar is interested, but then he dismisses the soothsayer. All leaves except Brutus and Cassius. Cassius says that Brutus hasn't seemed himself recently. Brutus admits that he has been troubled, and has been doing a lot of thinking. Cassius suggests he can tell Brutus what has been troubling him. Brutus mistrusts Cassius's motives. Cassius assures Brutus he is trustworthy. They hear trumpets and shouting. Brutus comments to himself that he hopes the people haven't made Caesar a king. Cassius asks Brutus if he fears the people will do so. Brutus admits he does, and asks Cassius to get to the point. He says if Cassius wants him to do something for the public good he will even if it means his death. Cassius says how upset he is that Caesar has become so popular. He tells how he saved Caesar from drowning when the two of them were children, and how he saw Caesar get very ill while campaigning in Spain. Cassius says Caesar has gotten too powerful, and too proud. Something must be done. He reminds Brutus that his ancestor of the same name helped establish the Roman republic by driving out the Tarquin kings. Brutus admits he is sympathetic and suggests they meet later. Caesar and company return; they look upset. Brutus and Cassius agree to ask Casca what has happened. Caesar tells Antony that "yond Cassius has a lean and hungry look; / He thinks too much: such men are dangerous" (I.ii.194-5). Antony assures him Cassius is not to be feared. Caesar agrees suggesting that he fears nothing, but continues to criticize Cassius as a brooding and solemn fellow. Caesar and company leave. Casca explains to Brutus and Cassius that Antony offered Caesar a crown three times, each time Caesar refused it, but each time less fervently, and the third time Caesar went into and epileptic fit, i.e., "the falling sickness" (I.ii2.52). Indeed, Caesar was so popular with the crowd that he offered them his throat to cut as a dramatic gesture. After Caesar recovered from his fit the crowd cheered and clapped all the more. Cassius asks if Cicero said anything, and Casca makes several jokes about unable to understand Cicero because he spoke in Greek. Casca also mentions that Flavius and Marcullus are being put to death for defacing images of Caesar. Cassius invites Casca to dinner the next night, and Casca leaves. Brutus says Casca seemed awfully stupid. Cassius says he is just acting stupid so he can get away with being more honest. Brutus says he will meet Cassius the next day and leaves. In a soliloquy Cassius worries that he won't be able to persuade Brutus to kill Caesar. He decides to forge some letters encouraging him to do so, and make it look like all of Rome is behind the idea. Act I, Scene iii Summary At night Cicero enters with Casca. Cicero asks Casca if he brought Caesar home, and why he looks so scared. Casca explains that he has seen several bad omens including fire coming out of the sky, a slave's hand go unburnt while

Principle of Marketing in the Food and Beverages Market Research Paper
Principle of Marketing in the Food and Beverages Market - Research Paper Example Bearing the lessons in mind, the marketing strategies which shall be proposed for Shin Shii shall be founded upon the characteristics of the market in question and, proceeding from that, shall aim towards the maximization of effect within a reasonable budget. In selecting its marketing strategy for entry into the U.S. market, it is necessary to consider both the threats and opportunities which shall confront Shin Shii. Based on observations of the US beverages market, marketing and market research scholars have determined that the primary threats confronting both existing companies and new entrants are over-saturation and an increasingly health-conscious consumer-base (Swot,'2005). In other words, not only is competition extremely intense and dominated by a handful of major food and beverages companies but, health concerns are functioning as a threat to the maintenance of the existent market, let alone its expansion. While market research scholars have identified a number of serious threats confronting the food and beverages' market, they have also identified a number of attractive opportunities, especially pertinent to the case of Shin Shii. In the first place, while the beverages' market may be oversaturated, the U.S. consumer market is a highly experimental one by nature and is attracted to novelty (Swot,' 2005). In other words, it exhibits a persistent and unfailing tendency to test the new. In the second place, the trend towards health consciousness implies that while the soda market may be sealed off for the present, there is a market for beverages which are considered healthy or, at least, benign, in that they neither have negative nor positive health effects.Ã

Portfolio Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Portfolio - Assignment Example They are a similar, and at the same time different aspect of assessing performance. Venn (2000) defines an assessment portfolio as a systematic collection of artifacts that uses a selection of work, measured against pre-determined scoring criteria, to evaluate a personââ¬â¢s skills, achievements and growth over a specified period of time. Student portfolios are designed with the main objective of efforts, achievements and progress of the students. Purposes Portfolios are used for various purposes. They provide a collection of student work that aids in assessing the quality of the past or ongoing performance of the student. Moreover, they help in demonstration of achievements that is essential to students as it helps them demonstrate the capability to master chief topics in a program. Design and Format Portfolios come in different formats and designs. The format to use is determined by the type of material included, intended use of the portfolio and the target audience. Regardless of the format, all portfolios must contain the name of the student, a brief introduction about the student, several pieces of work selected using criteria specified carefully and fields where progress in the selected work is recorded over a period of time. Students may also choose to give an explanation on the reasons behind the selection of the subjects as well as specify criteria for evaluating the quality of the work. Types of portfolios As discussed earlier, portfolios come in a variety of types depending on the kind of material included, intended use of the portfolio and the target audience. Danielson and Abrutyn (1997) suggest that there are three main types of portfolios; working, display and assessment portfolios. (a) Working Portfolios As the name suggests, it contains work in progress as well as finished work samples. It acts as a store for this work in progress that may be selected later on for a more permanent assessment. It is an intentional collection of work that is g uided by learning objectives and differs from a work folder. Its main audience is the student, guided by the teacher. (b) Display/ Showcase Portfolios This is among the most rewarding use of student portfolios and is used to display the best works of the students. The students and their teachers become committed to the process most when they exhibit their best work and infer the meaning. The core objective of this type of portfolio is to demonstrate the highest achievement level attained by the student. It may be maintained yearly with new work samples being added yearly to document growth. (c) Assessment Portfolios They are designed primarily to document what a student has learned and may be used to demonstrate the studentââ¬â¢s mastery in a certain curricular area, the quality of the studentââ¬â¢s work as well as the level of growth and effort, attitude and progress. The work selected for the portfolio is determined by the content in the studentââ¬â¢s curriculum. Advantag es of assessment portfolios An assessment portfolio can have a lot of benefits to users when designed and implemented properly. The following are some of these benefits. (a) Promotes reflection, self evaluation and critical thinking among the students. (b) Provides flexibility when measuring how students achieve the set learning goals (c) Facilitates sharing of responsibility (among students and teachers) for setting goals and evaluating progress to meeting the set goals. Audio Lingual Method Essay Example for Free
Audio Lingual Method Essay Compare and contrast the Direct Method and the Audio-Lingual Method. (1) Both are oral-based approaches. (2) The Direct Method emphasizes vocabulary acquisition through exposure to its use in situations; the Audio-Lingual Method drills students in the use of grammatical sentence patterns. (3) Unlike the Direct Method, the Audio-Lingual Method has a strong theoretical base in linguistics and psychology. 2- How has the behavioral psychology influenced the Audio-Lingual Method? It was thought that the way to acquire the sentence patterns of the target language was through conditioningââ¬âhelping learners to respond correctly to stimuli through shaping and reinforcement. (2) Learners could overcome the habits of their native language and form the new habits required to be target language speakers. 3- Define a backward build-up drill (expansion drill). State its purpose and advantages. (1) Definition: The teacher breaks down a line into several parts. The students repeat a part of the sentence, usually the last phrase of the line. Then, following the teachers cue, the students expand what they are repeating part by part until they are able to repeat the entire line. The teacher begins with the part at the end of the sentence (and works backward from there) to keep the intonation of the line as natural as possible. This also directs more student attention to the end of the sentence, where new information typically occurs. (2) Purpose: The purpose of this drill is to break down the troublesome sentence into smaller parts. (3) Advantages: (a) The teacher is able to give the students help in producing the troublesome line. Having worked on the line in small pieces, the students are also able to take note of where each word or phrase begins and ends in the sentence. 4- Define a repetition drill. Students are asked to listen carefully to the teachers model, and then they have to repeat and attempt to mimic the model as accurately and as quickly as possible. 5- Define a chain drill. State its advantages. (1) Definition: The chain of conversation that forms around the room as students, oneby- one, ask and answer questions of each other. The teacher begins the chain by greeting a particular student, or asking him a question. That student responds, and then turns to the student sitting next to him. (2) Advantages: (A) A chain drill gives students an opportunity to say the lines individually. (B) The teacher listens and can tell which students are struggling and will need more practice. (C) A chain drill also lets students use the expressions in communication with someone else, even though the communication is very limited. 6- Define a single-slot substitution drill. State its purpose. (1) Definition: The teacher says a line, usually from the dialog. Next, the teacher says a word or a phraseââ¬âcalled the cue. The students repeat the line the teacher has given them, substituting the cue into the line in its proper place. (2) Purpose: The major purpose of this drill is to give the students practice in finding and filling in the slots of a sentence. 7- Define a multiple-slot substitution drill. State its purpose. This drill is similar to the single-slot substitution drill. The difference is that the teacher gives cue phrases, one at a time, that fit into different slots in the dialog line. The students must recognize what part of speech each cue is, or at least, where it fits into the sentence, and make any other changes, such as subject-verb agreement. They then say the line, fitting the cue phrase into the line where it belongs. 8- Define transformation drill. Students are asked to change one type of sentence into anotherââ¬âan affirmative sentence into a negative or an active sentence into a passive.

How to Calculate the G Forces in NHRA Drag Racing :: Process Essays
How to Calculate the G Forces in NHRA Drag Racing In the sport of professional drag racing gravity takes on an entirely different meaning while accelerating these monsters down the track at speeds in excess of 330 miles per hour. The force exerted on the driver is known as G force. In this short journey down the track, the formula to calculate the forces exerted on the driver will be demonstrated. Next the forces exerted on the driver in the individual classes of cars. Then at the end of the quarter mile G force rears its ugly head again when the parachute is deployed to bring the monsters from their maximum speeds to a stop. In the end does this have an effect on the human body? To calculate the average acceleration will be derived by converting miles per hour into meters per second. To do this, divide the miles per hour by .6. This will give kilometers per hour. Then multiply that by 1000. This will give meters per hour. This gives meters per hour, to convert this to meters per second divide meters per hour by 3600. At this point divide by the time of the run, this is the average acceleration. Next it is known that gravity makes things fall at a speed of 10 meters per second. Take the average acceleration divided by the time to complete the run and divide this total by 10 meters per second and this gives a number that represents a multiple of gravitational force exerted on the masses involved in the acceleration. This number is a multiple of the normal gravitational force exerted on everything on earth. If the racer weighs 190 pounds and experiences 2.5 Gââ¬â¢s their body would feel as if it weighed 475 pounds. This causes a big strain on the body. The exact physical response on the human is not exactly known because studys on pilots show that some can become accustomed to a little higher G force as when they first started the study. Over all it showed that a human would loose consciousness between 8 and 9 Gââ¬â¢s. the space shuttle launches at about 3 Gââ¬â¢s. Modern fighter jets pulling out of a hard dive can experience about 8 Gââ¬â¢s. Under this kind force the blood pools in, usually the wrong, parts of the body. However, the human body can withstand high Gââ¬â¢s for very brief periods of time.

Harmonizing to my consequences, it indicates that my leading manner is predominately Participative, which means that I am capable of working with group members who understand the aims and their function in the undertaking. My biggest strength is difficult work, sharing the sense of duty, promptness, clip direction and the ability to run into deadlines. I am a really trusty individual with an ability to work as a squad participant or as an person which helps me to last under different sort of environments. Harmonizing to my yesteryear experienced, my supervisor came over and praised me for my difficult work for the past five hebdomads and he besides informed me that they will offer me a squad leader occupation one time I finished my class. My Weakness is that I get hurt really rapidly if person neglects my sincere attempts, or accuse me of being guilty of a error which I ne'er did, this does consequences in a mental emphasis which finally effects my public presentation.Secondly sometimes I get emotional. This is what I think are my biggest strength and failings. And I need to better this strength and failings.leading theoriesLeadership is a manner of taking others to acquire the coveted consequences. There are many theories presented by different writer and I am traveling to discourse some of the theories which are as follow:Situational leading theoryIt is developed by Hersey and Blanchard, is based on the premiss that leaders need to change their behaviors depending on one major situational factor-the preparedness of followings. It focuses on two behaviors: undertaking behavior and relationship behavior. Task behavior is the leader ââ¬Ës inclination to spell out responsibilities and duties of the group. Relationship behavior is the leader ââ¬Ës inclination to utilize bipartisan or multi-way communicating To find which combination of behavior is appropriate for a given state of affairs, a leader must entree the follower preparedness. Follower preparedness means follower ââ¬Ës willingness and ability to carry through a undertaking. The following are the leading manner that might be used: Telling- giving specific undertaking waies and closely supervising work ; a high undertaking, low-relationship manner Selling- explicating undertaking waies in a supportive and persuasive manner ; a high undertaking, low-relationship manner. Participating- stressing shared thoughts and participative determinations on undertaking waies ; a low undertaking, high-relationship manner. Delegating- leting the group to take duty for undertaking determinations ; a low undertaking, low-relationship manner. In utilizing this situational leading theory, leaders decide the undertaking countries they want to act upon assess the person ââ¬Ës preparedness degree, select the leading manner matching to that degree.Path-goal theoryIt explains how leader behavior can positively act upon the motive and occupation satisfaction of subsidiaries. It is closely associated with anticipation theory ; it is focused on the manner leader ââ¬Ës influence subsidiaries ââ¬Ë perceptual experience of work ends and waies to accomplish both work and personal ends. This theory argues that the perceptual experience of subsidiaries is affected by the undermentioned leader behaviors. Directing leader behaviour- allowing subsidiaries know what is expected of them, supplying counsel about work methods, developing work agendas, placing work rating criterions, and bespeaking the footing for results or wagess. Supportive leader behaviour- entails demoing concern for the position, wellbeing and demands of subsidiaries ; making little things to do work more pleasant ; and being friendly and accessible. Participative leader behaviour- it is characterised by confer withing with subsidiaries, promoting their suggestions, and carefully sing their thoughts when doing determinations Achievement-oriented leader behaviour- involves puting disputing ends, anticipating subsidiaries to execute at their highest degree, and conveying a high grade of assurance in subsidiaries. Leaderships should besides see two of import situational factors: subsidiary and context features.Normative leading theoretical accountThe Normative leading theoretical account developed by Vroom and Yetton helps leaders assess critical situational factors impacting the extent to which they should affect subsidiaries in peculiar determinations. In this theoretical account, determinations made by directors in relation to group jobs are identified as belonging to one of five rudimentss groups. A1: the leader makes the determinations utilizing available information. A2: the leader obtains necessary information from subsidiaries so makes the determination. C1: the leader portions the job with relevant subsidiaries, separately so makes the determination. C2: the leader obtains information and an thought from subsidiaries in a group session so makes the determination. G2: The leaders portion the job with the group and organize their attempts to invent a solution. The theoretical account includes a figure of inquiries the director can inquire about the determination or job, which may assist him/her to make up one's mind which method is most appropriate given the state of affairs.Transformational and transactional leadingTransformational leaders motivates persons to execute beyond normal outlooks by animating subsidiaries to concentrate on broader missions exceeding their ain immediate opportunism, to concentrate on intrinsic higher-level ends instead than extrinsic lower degree ends, and to hold assurance in their abilities to accomplish the extraordinary missions articulated by the leader. Transformational leading is auxiliary to transactional leading ; it does non replace it. Transformational leading includes three of import factors: Charisma is a leading factors consisting the leader ââ¬Ës ability to animate pride, religion and regard. To recognize what is of import. Individual consideration is a leading where leader ââ¬Ës wages attending to the single follower ââ¬Ës demands and dainty every person as equal. Intellectual stimulation is a leading factor affecting offering new thoughts to excite followings to rethink old ways of making things, promoting followings to look at jobs from multiple vantage points. Transactional leaders are leaders who motivates subsidiaries to execute at expected degrees by assisting them recognize undertaking duties, identify ends, get assurance about meeting coveted public presentation degrees, and understand how their demands and the wagess they desire are linked to end accomplishment.leading function model/sLeadership means different things to different people. It refers to the procedure of act uponing others to accomplish organizational ends. There are many leaders who have proven themselves in forepart of others such as Manmohan Singh, Adolf Hitler. They change the hereafter of whole universe by their leading manners. I have chosen two political leaders to compare and contrast their leading theory and manners. The First political leader is a current Prime-minister of India ( Dr.Manmohan Singh ) and the 2nd 1 is antique: President of Libya ( Muammar Gaddafi ) .Leadership profilesManmohan Singh was born in 26 September 1932 in Goha small town, Punjab But a fter India ââ¬Ës divider now this small town is in Pakistan. His household was migrated to Amritsar sahib, India during divider in 1947. He was really intelligent and bright pupil from the starting of his survey calling. He was ever come foremost to larn something new. After the divider he starts his survey in Hindu college. In 1952 & A ; 1954 he got his unmarried man ââ¬Ës and maestro ââ¬Ës grade. He stands foremost in his whole academic calling. He receives a Wren bury scholarship as good. He finishes his survey from university Oxford in 1962. After receive doctor's degree in economic sciences from Oxford University, he worked for United Nations and after this he began his bureaucratic calling. He works as an adviser in the ministry of foreign trade with Lalit Narayan Mishra. After this he handled so many stations for authorities of India like Chief Economic Advisor ( 1972-76 ) , Governor of modesty bank ( 1982-85 ) and caput of be aftering committee ( 1985-87 ) . In 22 may 2004 He selected as a 13th Prime-Minister of India. Manhohan Singh follows participative and bureaucratic leading manner in his whole calling. He is the in charge of every action related to development of a state. He takes other thoughts into consideration while puting any measure further towards the development. He follows the regulations and ordinances and ensures that other people follow the regulations and ordinances systematically and accurately. From the starting of his Prime-minister calling he set up many regulations for the people of India to diminish the payoff and poorness in state and Increase the economic system of state. Muammar Gaddafi was born on 7th June 1942 in Libya. Initially he was swayer of Libyan Arab Republic boulder clay 1977 and so Brother Leader of Libyan Arab Jamahiriya till his last breath. He was considered as an Autocratic leader. He took the Libyan political relations to a new tallness where he defined ideal bossy manner. He ruled the state with his power for a long period of clip. He closed American and British military bases instantly when he came to power. He expelled Italian colonists in 1970 when he saw western imperialism combating against Arab nations. A batch of similar activities were introduced during his regulation but it made a negative impact on the populace of Libya. Peoples ne'er recognized him as a leader but because of his power cipher took a measure frontward to vie with him. ( 2008 ) It is clear that both the leaders were traveling in a different way. Manmohan Singh was a good educated economic expert and Gaddafi was non qualified. Manmhohan Singh has ne'er tried to convey his replacements to political relations whereas Gaddafi has used his power to convey his replacements in different professions. Manmohan Singh was premier curate of independent India and got elected with co-operation from political parties. He was working as an employee of the state instead than governing it and any determination made by him was agreed by remainder of the party members. On the other manus, Gaddafi took the state in his custodies and introduced new regulations harmonizing to Arab believes and ideas. He ne'er took suggestions from anybody and has ever been against western states. In drumhead, even though both the leaders were a batch different from each other in footings of commanding but there were some similarities as good. For the growing of state ââ¬Ës economic system Gaddafi introduced new revenue enhancements for oil companies. Manmohan Singh has ever focused on growing of Indian economic system and was an advantage because he worked antecedently as finance curate of India.Change ManagementThe many complications of alteration in administration Begin with human nature. Peoples tend to move habitually and in stable ways over clip. They may non desire to alter even when fortunes require it. In order to maintain them up to day of the month and be acceptable for alteration both the leaders need to utilize kurt lewin theoretical account of alteration direction. There are three phases in that unfreezing, altering, refreezing. Unfreezing is the phase in which a state of affairs is prepared for alteration and felt demands for alteration are developed foremost both have to dissolve the state of affairs. Changing is the stage where a planned alteration really takes topographic point. In this both can set their alteration planning into action. Refreezing is the stage at which alteration is stableness. By utilizing these both can measure consequences and give feedback.Benchmarking standardsLeadership is the most of import portion of an administration. Because administration growing depends on leading, it means how leader perform good with their group to derive productiveness and trustful environment which make their concern do good with maximal support. Leadership is the manner of taking others and making function theoretical account for follower to follow as an illustration. Lots of qualities make a leader perfect in leading. Patron Saint of Butterflies Essay Essay
The main characters of the story are Honey, and Agnes. The whole book was written in a switch off format which is when Honey and Agnes each write a chapter on what happened in there own thoughts. The story shows a relationship between two girls that slowly grow apart holding tight onto what they have left in their friendship. The characters are Honey, her dad which is Mr. Little, Mrs. Little, Nana Pete, Lillian, Benny, and the owners of Mount Blessing, Mother Veronica and Father Emmanuel. In this story, the characters are in a conflict; Mother Veronica and Father Emmanuel were the ones that were against Lillian, Nana Pete, Honey, and Agnes. There were against each other because Father Emmanuel was punishing the people that lived on Mount Blessing. The story started like this, Agnes was looking for Honey she got into trouble. Honey was punished by Emmanuel because she kissed a boy, on her back; Veronica had carved the word ââ¬Å"harlotâ⬠. Soon, Nana Pete (Agnes and Bennyââ¬â¢s grandmother) found out about the regulation room where people were being punished at. Nana Pete decides to leave after she found out, when Benny had his finger slammed in the door. Someone had called the police, but because Emmanuel knew he was going to get into trouble if the police come, so he decides to it on himself clumsily. Nana Pete takes him to the hospital where they had to undo everything that Emmanuel had done. Right after Benny had woken up, they escape from Mount blessing where Agnes really doesnââ¬â¢t want to because she wants to become a saint, but Honey dreads to escape that place from the day her was born. Honey had to say goodbye to Winky, the person that Honey owns a utterfly garden with. Honey also left a note about if Agnes ever goes back, Honey made Winky call the cops. They travel across from Connecticut all the way to Texas. On the way, Agnes faced a lot of things that were considered a sin, like eating stuff that are red, watching T. V. and listening to the radio which was all considered sins but Honey did all of them even when she knew it was against the rules on Mount Blessing. Agnes struggles to be with Honey because of their differences, especially when they arrive to the destination and meet a girl amed Lillian. Actually, Lillian is Honeyââ¬â¢s mother that had left her when she was only a baby, the story of her mother was complicated. She was wonderful at the violin when she had went to Mount Blessing, so she instantly was accepted into Emmanuelââ¬â¢s inner group which usually take years to do. But at that time she was already pregnant but the people in the inner circle knew nothing about it, when they did, Honey was already born into this world, so they made Lillian go away and let Honey stay with Lillianââ¬â¢s brother, Joseph (Mr.Little). Things turn out pretty well until Nana Pete had died from a heart attacked. Honey and Agnes had a major fight after Agnes was praying for Nana Pete to come back alive, Honey said that it was impossible and had some argument that had caused Honey to hit Agnes. Rushing out the door, Honey hopped into the truck and then drove to the shop Lillian owned. She rushed in causing everyone to suddenly look at her, and then she dragged Lillian back, at that same time Agnes had called her parents to fly here and go pick up Agnes. After her parents arrive, Mr. Little called Lillian the name she was given at Mount Blessing. After Agnes left, that was when Honey found out Lillian was her mother, also she finally knew the reason why Nana Pete treated her like her own grandchild. When Agnes arrived at Mount Blessing, she saw there were rows of police cars parked in front of the regulation room, the cops wanted to see all of the children, alone, that is when Emmanuel said ââ¬Å"remember, we are believersâ⬠meaning for them to not tell anything about the room. Because the children were so scared they all didnââ¬â¢t respond to the negative things that were mentioned about Mount Blessing. But then, Agnes thought about what was right and what she should do, slowly with trembling legs, she stood up. At the same time, Honey and Lillian was driving to Mount Blessing, when they arrive, the cops arrived because of the fact that Winky had called the police. A few weeks later, all of the parents were to be kept in order to be questioned, that is when Honey and Agnes stand on the same line, and race each other to the finish line. They raced each other at the end because Agnes wanted to be a saint, and she thought racing was a sin, but she finally loosened up from what Honey had helped her with. I thought this book was the adventurous kind in the beginning, but then did I find out it was about friendship and love. This book was very touching from what Honey had described in one of the chapters about how Agnes had changed from the friend that she use to know to what she is now, a saint to be. I thought that it was outrageous when I read to the part about that they were hit by Emmanuel. To what I think, people should not be punished by what they have done just according to the rules that some guy had made, and I thought that if the kids donââ¬â¢t want to live there, why do their parents make them? In a lot of the chapters, it showed that Agnes had a string that was tied around the waist, and every time she had committed a sin, she would tighten the string, just imagining it I would think would be hard enough for me, but to do it, it takes guts. This booked talked a lot about friendship and trust, and I also thought it was so touching when it told the ending about how they raced each other. It would be hard for me to ever still hold on to the friendship that Agnes and Honey had held on to, I would just have stopped being friends with Agnes instead of trying to convince her back to being normal. I really loved this book because it connected with the experiences that I had, my friend, well more like best friend had started to ââ¬Ëfit inââ¬â¢ with the crowd, and soon, she pretended that she didnââ¬â¢t ever know me. But before I came to America, I had to say goodbye to her, and she said that the only reason she left me was because I started making new friends and didnââ¬â¢t even talk to her. The misunderstanding was all over, but the things that had already happened could not be solved, so I felt that I was in the same relationship with my best friend just like how Agnes and Honey was. This story could be told to all ages and not to a limited age, it talks about friendship, trust, and most important, holding onto your friend.

Robert Frosts Road to Success essays
Robert Frosts Road to Success essays On March 26th of 1874 in San Francisco California, Isabelle Moodie and William Prescott Frost Jr. were blessed with a son, who they named after Confederate General Robert E. Lee. Frosts sister, Jeanie Florence, was born on June 25th of 1876 in Lawrence, Mass. In 1879 Frost went to kindergarten, but went home after one day because he suffered from nervous stomach pains, and did not return. Frost tried first grade and second grade but dropped out of both, so he was schooled at home. In 1886 they moved to Salem, New Hampshire, where his mother taught the fifth to eighth grade. Frost and Jeanie both entered the fifth grade. Frost began to like school so he applied for entrance into Lawrence High School. He passed the exams and enrolled into some collage prep classes (Frost, Robert (p1)). Frosts first poem, La Noche Triste, published in April of 1890, and the second poem, The Song of the Wave, published in May, both appeared in the Lawrence High School Bulletin. A Critique of Gone to Soldiers by Marge Piercy
A Critique of Gone to Soldiers by Marge Piercy Essay A Critique of Gone to Soldiers by Marge PiercyA Critique of Gone to Soldiers by Marge PiercyThe novel Gone to Soldiers by Marge Piercy intricately weaves the livesof many different people into a connected series of individual plots that givethe reader an exciting view of life during World War II. Piercy connects thelives of women and men, Jews and gentiles by using family ties and steamy loveaffairs. The people have dramatically different profiles, some are rich someare poor, some are Americans, some are French, some are with power while othersare persecuted, but everyone is connected by the war. War freed women byallowing them to work in factories and defy their husbands by hiding resistingFrench Jews. Piercy makes history exciting by making each character reallyexperience love and hate and the mundane daily struggles of the individual. I completely enjoyed Gone to Soldiers, because several main charactersprevented me from getting bored and kept me reading to find out what was goingto happen to each person next. I really enjoyed the profile of Louise Kahan afemale Jewish American writer, because she is independent and strong willed. Anexample of her strength and belief in herself Louise did not instantly return toher ex-husband Oscar even though they both still loved each other, because shewas strong enough to resist him and his womanizing ways. Piercy gave me a muchbetter understanding of the cultural and social issues of the World War two era. I learned about the little struggles of working American women, such as theunavailability of stockings and societys negative attitude towards womenwearing pants. These issues were ones that I had never thought about before. It amazes me that only fifty years ago a woman could not wear pants to work. Ruthies friend was sent home to change for wearing loose fitting red pantsbecause they were considered racy. It is equally surprising to me that womenstill have to wear hose with our skirts or be deemed inappropriate. I do notunderstand how society has completely changed from a white male society into amuch more diverse culture and still expect women to wear uncomfortable hose. Piercy made complete sense throughout the entire book and most importantly shekept my attention. Piercys point of view was biased favorably towards AmericanJews. I enjoyed the book because it kept my attention on the individual livesof people in the midst of war instead of the battles fought during the war. Ialso liked the complicated weave of lives into one story like a patchwork quilt. In conclusion, I enjoyed Marge Piercys novel Gone to Soldiers, becauseit kept my attention with realistic descriptions of people with whom I began toreally understand their feelings and thoughts. Other students should read thisbook if they like historical fiction, because it is so captivating. Piercy usesthe individual as a piece of the whole picture, important but not the entiretyof the work which makes this book so intriguing.

Critically Eexamine the Importance of Ensuring the Race, Ethnicity, Essay
Critically Eexamine the Importance of Ensuring the Race, Ethnicity, Social Class And Gender of Pupils Are Valued And Supported Within the Education System - Essay Example This project declares that the social class of the students affects performance in terms of the quality of life. If a student has access to the basic needs, health care and social amenities then they are more likely to perform better in school. Research has shown that students who come from low-income households have slower development of academic skills that those coming from higher income households. This is because of the different environments and exposures of these two groups. For example, a child from a well to do family may be more technologically advanced that another from a low-income household. This is because this student is exposed to all the latest gadgets and other devices because the family can be able to afford them. This paper makes a conclusion that tahe one for the under privileged student has to be detailed as the assumption made is there are things that the students has not been able to access and experience because of their social standing. Families that have low income are less likely to provide the necessary materials required in the learning process. In conclusion, all the above areas have to be considered in the formulation of an educational policy to make sure that all that parties involved have adequate representation and no group is left behind in educational progression. Education is a basic human right and the least we can do is to make sure that it is accessible by all and that it is comprehensive enough for all parties involved.
